Mr Mervin Wee
Creative Director and Managing Director
With more than 36 years of experience in the hairdressing industry, Mervin’s illustrious career has earned him titles like the Celebrity Hairstylist, Style Doctor and Creative Director. Being very passionate and persistent in pursuing this area of his interest, Mervin enrolled and was trained in well-known international salons such as Alan International, Vidal Sassoon, Jingles International and Toni & Guy International in London.
Mervin has won several awards throughout these years, namely, World Awards of Honor of Knight, ICD Personality Stylist from Intercoiffure Mondial, Finalist Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2003 and Singapore Tatler Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2017.
To showcase his creative skills, Mervin took on the challenge to be the Creative Director for Asia’s Next Top Model Season 4 & 5 in 2016 & 2017. In additional, Mervin did hair shows all over Asia such as in Singapore, China, Indonesia, Hong Kong etc. He is also chosen to be the appointed Creative Hairstylist for renowned Hollywood and Asia celebrities, State Officials and Royalties. His creative works have graced many media such as TV programmes and fashion magazines.
Very keen in passing on his passion and skills to the next generation, Mervin has acquired the title of “Industry Trainer” awarded by the Institute of Technical Education Singapore (I.T.E). With a mission to develop and groom the future hairstylists, Mervin developed the Rhythmic Training System (RTS) for the training of trainees – a first in the Hairdressing Industry for simple steps to systematic Hairdressing and Cutting.
Professionally, Mervin was P.R. Director of Intercoiffure Mondial Singapore in 2002 and in 2003, he was appointed as the President. Mervin left the role due to major business expansion plans of his salon after a term as the President of ICD Singapore. From 2008 to 2013, Mervin also held the title of a P.R. Director of ICD Oceania, which includes Australia.
In February 2018, Mervin is once again appointed as the President of Intercoiffure Mondial Singapore Section in 2018. Mervin shares about the missions he would like to achieve for this new role. Firstly, he wants to bring the hair & beauty industry to the next level by constantly sharing expertise through global connections. Secondly, he hopes to gather the hairdressers together on a regular basis, regardless of number of years they have been in the industry and to ignite their interest and passion. Lastly, he is inspired to train, develop and nurture the next generation of hairdressers in Singapore.
